Congratulations to all my teammates on a great year. For those not playing fall ball get some rest because we are in it to win it next year.

I think people should realize too that if you choose the first option (At someone's house) then you should also be offering up your house when the time comes for the party Smile

Coed starts strong, but can't hold on against Polar

GamesMathematically, the Just a Bit Outside Softball Club's Coed B2 team will be making the Coed B2 playoffs in their first season. But with a stretch of three games in two nights, they were hoping to head into the playoffs on a high note. Unfortunately, while their game Monday night against Polar Beverage started off strong, they were unable to capitalize on an early lead and eventually lost to Polar 9 - 7.

The team put up a quick 2 runs in the first inning, with Ryan Phelps-Franco scoring on a double by Chris Furman, then Furman scoring on a single by AJ Haynes. They were even able to push the lead out to 6 - 0 in a 4-run third, with Furman smacking a 2-run double to deep left, and Haynes hitting in Furman and Jess Girard.

But Polar (9 - 6) was able to claw back with 3 runs in the 4th inning to make it 6 - 3. JABO (5 - 9) scored another run to make it 7 - 3. Polar scored 3 more runs in the 5th, though, after their #4 hitter drove a 2-run double over the head of Furman in center field, who was playing a bit too shallow.

The game was quiet until the bottom of the 6th, where JABO was able to get bases loaded after a Girard walk with only one out. But Furman, with a chance to redeem himself, harmlessly popped up to the pitcher for the second out, and Larissa grounded out in the infield to end the rally. Polar's rally, though, wasn't complete until the 7th, when they dove in 3 more runs to take the lead. And in the bottom of the 7th, JABO never managed to get a runner past first base, giving Polar the win.

The coed team ends its' season on Tuesday night, 9/1, with a double header over at Firemans Field. The first game is against Marsh Farms (9 - 6) at 6pm, with the nightcap against the Misfits (12 - 3) starting 15 minutes after the end of the first game.
