Congratulations to all my teammates on a great year. For those not playing fall ball get some rest because we are in it to win it next year.

I think people should realize too that if you choose the first option (At someone's house) then you should also be offering up your house when the time comes for the party

Mens team bookends weekend with 2 convincing wins
The Just a Bit Outside Softball Club's Mens B3 team continued their early season hot streak by bookending the past weekend with two wins. The first win came Friday night as they defeated the Best Damn Sports bar 20 - 9, then followed it up with a win last night against Albany Nanotech 20 - 12.Friday night's game opened up when the JABO bats came to life in the top of the 6th inning. With the score tied at 8, JABO put up 7 runs in the 6th and followed that up with 5 more in the 7th to take a comfortable 12 run lead. Danny Benitez pitched brilliantly through the first four innings of the game, giving up only 2 runs, but started to tire in the 5th where Best Damn Sports Bar plated 6 runs to tie it. Chris Furman entered the game in relief of Benitez and is credited with the win, allowing only one run during the final two innings.
The offensive explosion from the game came from the 4 and 5 spots in the lineup, as rookie Matt Relyea hit 3 doubles with 4 RBI and scoring 3 runs, and AJ Haynes smacking 2 home runs with 5 RBI. Also helping out with the offense was Ryan Phelps-Franco who was on base all 5 times and "Spaghetti" Jimmy Morocco, each scoring 3 runs and the wily veteran Steve Kawczak, who went 3 for 4 in the game.
Monday's game featured a battle that ended up being much closer than the score might seem to indicate.
JABO had a full roster on hand for taking on the at-the-time 2 - 1 Albany Nanotech team and burst out to a quick 9 - 0 lead after 1 1/2 innings. But Nanotech slowly plugged away at the lead, and by the end of 4 innings, were back in the game at 13 - 8. But the JABO offense had too much firepower for Albany Nanotech, scoring 5 more in the 5th on the strength of triples by Jon Noonan and Chris Furman and a final 2 in the 7th, putting the game out of hand.
Once again, there were many players responsible for the surging offensive explosion the JABO team put on last night:
* rookie Dan McKittrick had 3 hits with 4 RBI
* Jon Noonan reached base and scored in all 5 plate appearances
* Ryan Phelps-Franco reached base and scored in 4 of his 5 plate appearances
* "Spaghetti" Jimmy Morocco went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI
Danny Benitez (2 - 0, 10.23 ERA) threw well in his 4 innings of work, allowing 8 runs in that time. Chris Furman (1 - 0, 2 SV, 5.83 ERA) came in for relief in the 5th and started out shaky, allowing 4 runs in his first inning of work, but then settled down and didn't allow any more runs in the final two innings of work.
The team's next game will be on Wednesday, May 26 vs WB Roofing & Sheet Metal (4 - 0) at Field of Dreams. Game time for this battle between the top two teams in the division is 7:30pm.
