I think people should realize too that if you choose the first option (At someone's house) then you should also be offering up your house when the time comes for the party Smile

Offensive outburst gives mens team 1st victory of season
GamesAveraging just under 5 runs a game over their first 5 games of the season, the Just a Bit Outside Softball Club's mens team hasn't done much from the offensive side of their games to help prevent the team from starting out 0 - 5. However, after a nearly 3 week layoff between games, the offense came out firing Monday night, posting a season-high 17 runs in route to their first win of the season, a 17 - 7 victory against The Jerks over at Mullens Park.

The first two innings started off like many of the games this season have: stranding runners on base and giving up the lead early on (it was 2 - 0 after 2 innings). Five straight baserunners in the third, started off by Steve Kawczak's double, all scored to give the club only its' second lead of the season. And with a repeat 5-run inning in the 4th, the team built what provided to be a lead that would never be challenged.

The Jerks would manage to score once in the 5th and 4 in the 6th to close the lead to 13 - 7, but the club got those runs back in the 7th to set the winning margin to 10. The team set many team highs tonight, mainly in hits (23) and runs (17). Ryan Franco and Mike Biance lead the team with 3 hits a piece, while 8 others on the team had 2 hits.

There were many stars on the defensive side of the game behind pitcher Danny Benitez. Justin Kelly robbed The Jerks of at least a couple hits throughout the game with some stellar defensive plays, while the infield made some great plays to rob opposing batters of infield singles all throughout the game.

In the circle, Benitez pitched an excellent game, keeping hitters off balance all night. Aside from the 4-run sixth inning, he kept The Jerks off the bases, allowing only 3 more runs over the other six innings.

The mens next game is on Monday night, July 6. Game time is 6:00pm at Field of Dreams stadium.

7-run 2nd keys coed team's return to .500 mark
GamesHaving the past two weeks off, nobody was sure how the Just a Bit Outside Softball Club's Coed B2 team would handle the extended layoff. The time off proved to rejuvenate the team, as they pushed across 7 runs in the 2nd inning and managed to cruise into a 10 - 6 victory Wednesday night over The Black Out.

During the crucial 2nd inning, the club managed to put on 11 straight base runners, easily going through the entire lineup that inning. The key play in the inning, though, was Meaghan Rossbach getting to third base on the double hit by Scott Phillips. Meg's speed carried her past the bag, but she was able to make it back in time before a tag was applied. The offense was able to push across 2 more runs in the 4th and a run in the 6th, but all the runs from the 2nd ended up being enough for the team on this day.

Defensively, Art Wise threw 7 solid innings in the circle, striking out 2. He was dominate the first three innings, allowing only 1 hit. The Black Out finally got on the board in the 4th, putting up 3 runs on 5 consecutive hits. But a pop up to Erin Holohan in left, then a running catch in deep left center by Chris Furman, followed by a shallow fly to Furman killed the 4th inning rally. Black Out would go on to get another run in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to bring it to the final score.

The next game for the coed team is Tuesday night, June 30. It is a 6pm game at Bishop Maginn High School vs. Social Blackout. It will be Kim Rice Night at the stadium, where the first 5 single males 21 and over will receive a free Kim Rice bobblehead doll and the opportunity to purchase her birthday drinks, courtesy of Andy's Sports Bar.

Coed team rallys, but loses in close contest
GamesThe Just a Bit Outside Softball Club's Coed B2 team was unable to hold onto a late rally, and dropped their third straight game, an 11 - 10 decision to KPMG.

The team once again got themselves into some early deficits. After a throwing error by Chris Furman on the very first batter of the game, KPMG managed to take a 3 - 0 lead after one. JABO was able to tie the game later on, but found themselves down 8 - 5.

The team was able to rally bat with a huge 5-run 5th inning, taking a 10 - 8 lead. However, KPMG came back with their own rally, scoring 3 more runs and holding off JABO to secure the victory.

"We had a number of people who played well tonight, both in the field and at the plate," said JABO GM Chris Furman. "They just managed to squeak out one more run than us tonight. Have to give KPMG credit for playing a good game."

The Coed team has some time off now to rest and recover. Their next game is not until Friday, June 5th vs. the Ill-Tempered Sea Bass. Game time is 6:00pm at Livingston School.

Offense stagnant as mens team drops 4th straight
GamesAfter two very close games in their past two outings, the Just a Bit Outside Softball Club's Mens B3 team felt they had turned the corner and were on their way to pick up their first win of the season.

Instead, the team managed just 2 runs on 7 total hits, and dropped their 4th straight game, a 13 - 2 decision to Goodman Productions at Mullens Park on Monday night.

The team was completely off their game right from the start, with Art Wise having to make an emergency start on the mound, as the scheduled starting pitcher, Danny Benitez, had a wardrobe malfunction before the game even started. Having no chance to warm up, Wise pitched admirably, but gave up 7 runs in 3 innings before Benitez came in at the start oft he 4th.

The only runs for JABO came in the 4th inning, on a 2-run blast over the left field fence by Chris Furman, his second of the season.

The team will look to pick up their first win of the season a week from Wednesday, when they play the Electricians on May 27th at Mullens Park. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 9:05pm.
