I think people should realize too that if you choose the first option (At someone's house) then you should also be offering up your house when the time comes for the party Smile

Offense sputters in season-opening loss for mens team
GamesWith all of the upgrades the mens team made in the offseason, many people thought this team was poised for a breakout year, unleashing a fury onto the league that would put them in contention for a playoff spot this year.

The only problem: nobody ever let the fury know it was supposed to show up last night.

Empire Seal jumped out to an early lead with an 8-run second inning and never looked back, defeating the mens team 15 - 0 in a mercy-shortened 6 innings.

For as bad as the score may look, though, this was not a poorly-played game from the team in the field. Danny Benitez pitched well in the game, steadily improving with each inning, and the defense made many of the plays you expect a defense to play, and even a couple of plays you don't normally expect.

"Tonight's team played well," said manager Chris Furman, "but can be easily summed up: their hits found the ground, our hits found their gloves."

Empire Seal's big inning was the second, where the strung together 5 consecutive hits on their way to scoring 8 in the inning. Meanwhile, JABO managed to only get 5 runners on base the entire game.

"We'll be fine," said the manager. "When your bats are cold, you have to play better than perfect in the field to stay in the game. Once our bats warm up, we'll be winning a lot of games."

(Game summary to be posted soon.)

Mens B3 team to start season tonight at Bleeker Stadium
GamesThe Mens B3 team looks to keep the momentum going from last night's coed victory when they start their season off tonight with a 7:30pm game versus Empire Seal over at Bleeker Stadium.

Coach Furman has had to retool his team in the offseason, with three players having been released from the team. But Furman had the scouts working well, and they have picked up four great players to fill their spots: Matt Kawczak, who was a spot starter towards the end of last season, Steve Kawczak, Mike Biance (all three called up from the Ruggerio's affiliate), and Bryan Solek (a fall ball recruit called up from the Hempstead minor league affiliate).

Danny Benitez is expected to get the start tonight on the mound for the team.

Coed team starts season with come from behind victory
GamesThe Just a Bit Outside's Coed B2 team started their season out in exciting fashion, scoring 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning to record their first-ever victory on the coed side, an 8 - 5 win over Loose Cannons.

Art Wise (1-0), called up from the Provincetown (MA) minor league affiliate for a spot start, pitched an excellent game, and was backed up with stellar defensive plays throughout the entire game.

The team jumped out to an early 3 - 1 lead before giving up 3 runs in the 4th to go down 4 - 3. The teams each scored once in the 5th to make it 5 - 4 until the 4-run rally in the 7th by the club.

More detailed game report, as well as stats from the game, to follow later.

Congrats on our first win!
